Goa Pindul in Gunung Kidul offers a unique cave tubing experience: visitors float on inflated inner tubes through a 350-metre underground river passage decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, and natural skylights where sunlight pierces through openings in the cave ceiling.
Goa Pindul was first opened to tourism around 2010 by the local Bejiharjo village as a community-based ecotourism initiative. The cave's name comes from a local legend about a woman named Joko Singlulung who hid inside from her pursuers and was struck on the head by a falling stalactite (pindul means 'bump on the head').
