The Terracotta Army Museum houses one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century — thousands of life-sized clay soldiers buried to guard Emperor Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. Discovered in 1974 by farmers digging a well, the site now features three excavation pits and a comprehensive exhibition hall.
Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259–210 BCE) commissioned this underground army, employing an estimated 700,000 labourers over 38 years. The figures were originally painted in vivid colours. UNESCO designated the site a World Heritage Site in 1987.
