Splendid China Folk Village

Overview

Splendid China Folk Village is a cultural theme park adjacent to Window of the World that combines 1:15 scale models of China's most famous landmarks with a recreated folk village representing the cultures and architectures of China's 56 ethnic groups.

Highlights

• Miniature Landmarks: See scaled replicas of the Forbidden City, Great Wall, Potala Palace, and dozens of other sites.
• Ethnic Village: Full-size recreations of traditional dwellings from Miao, Dai, Tibetan, Uyghur, and other ethnic communities.
• Cultural Performances: Multiple daily shows featuring traditional music, dance, and acrobatics from different ethnic groups.

History

Splendid China opened in 1989 as the first theme park in the Shenzhen area, followed by the Folk Village section in 1991. Both were developed by the Overseas Chinese Town Group as part of a tourism strategy that made Shenzhen a domestic holiday destination. The two parks merged into a single ticket in 2003.

Visitor Tips

• Combined Ticket: Can be purchased with Window of the World for a discount.
• Afternoon Shows: The best ethnic dance performances run from 14:00–16:00.
• Duration: 3–4 hours.
