Shenzhen Library's main branch occupies a distinctive angular building in the Futian cultural precinct, designed by Arata Isozaki. With its cantilevered form and stepped terraces, the building has become an icon of Shenzhen's investment in cultural infrastructure.
The library opened in 2006 as part of the Futian cultural cluster alongside the Concert Hall. Its design by Isozaki emphasises transparency and openness, reflecting the idea that knowledge should be accessible to all. The library holds over 4 million volumes.
