The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel is a quirky underground experience that transports passengers beneath the Huangpu River in automated capsules through a psychedelic light-and-sound installation. It's kitsch, it's surreal, and it's uniquely Shanghai.
Opened in 2000, the tunnel was built to provide a pedestrian crossing between Puxi and Pudong. While it never became a practical commuter option, it endures as one of Shanghai's most unusual attractions.
