The Maritime Museum sits on the Inner Harbour waterfront beside the A-Ma Temple, documenting Macau's deep connection to the sea — from ancient Chinese fishing techniques to the Portuguese Age of Exploration and the territory's own naval history.
Opened in 1987, the museum was expanded into its current ship-shaped building in 1990. It occupies the exact spot where the Portuguese first landed in Macau in the 1550s. The collection includes artefacts donated by the Portuguese Navy and local fishing communities.
