History
This section was built in 1504 during the Ming dynasty and was the first part of the Great Wall opened to tourists in 1957. It has been visited by over 300 heads of state, including Richard Nixon in 1972.

- Avoid Weekends: Badaling can receive 80,000+ visitors on peak days. Visit on a weekday morning for a more manageable experience.
- S2 Train: Take the scenic S2 railway from Beijing North Station for a comfortable, affordable 80-minute ride through mountain valleys.
