Overview
The Beijing Botanical Garden covers 400 hectares at the foot of the Western Hills, housing over 6,000 plant species in themed gardens, a tropical conservatory, and the historic Sleeping Buddha Temple.

History
Established in 1956, the garden was developed over decades into one of China's premier botanical institutions. The adjacent Sleeping Buddha Temple dates to the 7th century, though the current buildings are primarily Qing-era.
Visitor Tips
- Spring Visit: March–May offers the best blooms; the peach blossom festival in late March/early April is the highlight.
- Western Hills: Combine with Fragrant Hills Park nearby for a full day in Beijing's western green belt.
