The Bundeshaus is the seat of the Swiss Federal Assembly and Federal Council, Switzerland's parliament. Completed in 1902 in a Florentine Neo-Renaissance style, it sits on a cliff overlooking the Aar river and the distant Bernese Alps.
The construction of the Parliament Building took place between 1894 and 1902, designed by architect Hans Wilhelm Auer. The central dome features allegorical mosaics by various Swiss artists celebrating the founding of the Swiss Confederation. The building remains the working seat of government and is open to visitors during non-session weeks.
