The Basílica de Santa María del Coro is an 18th-century baroque church at the foot of Monte Urgull, notable for its richly carved portal and dramatic location wedged between the old town and the hill. It is one of two co-main parishes of San Sebastián.
Built between 1743 and 1774 on the site of an earlier Romanesque church, the basilica survived the 1813 fire that destroyed most of the old town. Its façade is considered one of the finest examples of Basque baroque architecture.
