Sankt Petri Kyrka (St. Peter's Church) is the oldest building in Malmö, a 14th-century Gothic brick church modeled on St. Mary's in Lübeck. Its distinctive twin towers and whitewashed interior make it one of southern Sweden's finest medieval churches.
Construction began around 1319 when Malmö belonged to the Hanseatic trading sphere. The church reflects both Lübeck Gothic and local Scanian traditions. Swedish reformer Claus Mortensen introduced Lutheranism here in 1528.
