Stora Saluhallen is Gothenburg's main covered market hall, operating continuously since 1889. The brick building on Kungstorget houses approximately 40 vendors selling gourmet cheeses, cured meats, fresh bread, Scandinavian delicacies, and prepared foods from around the world.
The market hall was inaugurated in 1889, replacing open-air market stalls on Kungstorget. Architect Hans Hedlund designed the building with ventilation features inspired by London's covered markets. It remains one of Sweden's oldest continuously operating market halls.
