Highlights
- Trump and Putin mural: The famous Keulė Rūkė barbecue restaurant mural in Užupis showing the two leaders kissing — an updated version of the Berlin East Side Gallery classic.
- Halės Market area murals: Large-scale works on apartment buildings near the market, commissioned for various urban art festivals.
- Šnipiškės district: Emerging art district across the river with new murals appearing regularly.
History
Vilnius's street art scene gained momentum in the 2010s, partly inspired by the bohemian traditions of Užupis. The city administration has taken a permissive approach, allowing — and sometimes commissioning — large murals as part of urban regeneration and cultural programming.
