History
The sulphur refinery operated from the 19th century until the decline of the Sicilian sulphur industry in the mid-20th century. The cultural centre was founded in 2000 as part of the Le Ciminiere regeneration project, transforming derelict industrial buildings into thriving cultural spaces.
