Signal Hill is a flat-topped hill adjacent to Lion's Head, rising 350 metres above sea level. Easily accessible by car, it offers panoramic sunset views over the Atlantic Seaboard, Robben Island, and Table Bay harbour without any hiking required.
Signal Hill gets its name from the signal flags and cannon used to communicate with ships in Table Bay. The Noon Gun tradition began under the British garrison as a time signal for ships to calibrate their chronometers.
