Overview
The Mirador de San Miguel Alto is a hilltop viewpoint at the highest point of the Albaicín, offering a full 360-degree panorama of Granada, the Alhambra, the Vega plain, and the Sierra Nevada.
Highlights
- 360-Degree Views: Unlike San Nicolás (which faces only the Alhambra), this mirador offers views in every direction.
- Sunset Alternative: Far less crowded than San Nicolás at sunset, with equally stunning light.
- Hermitage: The tiny Ermita de San Miguel Alto perches at the summit.
History
The hermitage was built in the 16th century on the site of a Moorish watchtower. The lookout has been a favoured spot for locals for centuries.
Visitor Tips
- Steep Climb: A 10–15 minute uphill walk from San Nicolás — wear good shoes.
- Go at Sunset: Fewer crowds and wider views than San Nicolás.
- Duration: 20–25 minutes.
