Overview
Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a massive white marble monument set within the expansive Liberty Square, flanked by the National Theater and Concert Hall. It is one of Taipei's most recognized landmarks.

History
Completed in 1980 to commemorate the Republic of China's former president. The 76-meter octagonal structure's dimensions reference Chiang's age at death (89). The surrounding plaza was renamed Liberty Square in 2007.

- Guard Ceremony: Arrive 10 minutes early for the hourly ceremony — the best viewing spots fill up fast.
- Night Beauty: The illuminated memorial and gate are stunning after dark with far fewer visitors.
