Overview
Mrs Macquaries Chair is a sandstone bench carved into a rock ledge on Mrs Macquaries Point in 1810 for Elizabeth Macquarie, wife of Governor Lachlan Macquarie. It sits at the tip of a peninsula between Farm Cove and Woolloomooloo Bay.

History
Governor Macquarie ordered a road cut from Government House to this point so his wife could enjoy the harbour view. The convict-carved bench survives in its original position.
