City Park

Overview

Városliget (City Park) is Budapest's main park, a 120-hectare green space at the end of Andrássy Avenue containing Széchenyi Baths, the zoo, a boating lake/ice rink, and Vajdahunyad Castle.

Highlights

History

The park was laid out in the 1810s and developed for Hungary's 1896 Millennial celebrations. Vajdahunyad Castle was built as a temporary exhibition structure but beloved and rebuilt permanently.

• Winter skating: The outdoor rink (Nov–Feb) is magical.
• Full day: Multiple attractions can fill an entire day.
