Maximilianstraße is Munich's most exclusive shopping boulevard, running east from the National Theatre past designer flagships—Bulgari, Louis Vuitton, Armani—to the Maximilianeum (Bavarian Parliament). Its architecture blends neo-Gothic and English Perpendicular styles.
Designed by Friedrich Bürklein under King Maximilian II in the 1850s as a grand processional axis, the street's unique 'Maximilian Style' was deliberately eclectic.
