The Lenbachhaus houses the world's largest collection of the Blue Rider (Der Blaue Reiter) movement—Kandinsky, Marc, Münter, Klee—in a Tuscan-style villa expanded by Foster + Partners with a luminous gold-tube facade addition.
Built in 1891 as painter Franz von Lenbach's villa, the museum became the natural home for the Blue Rider collection when Gabriele Münter donated 90+ works in 1957. The 2013 Foster expansion tripled gallery space.
