The Stadtpark (City Park) is Vienna's most popular park, laid out in 1862 along the River Wien. It's best known for the gilded statue of Johann Strauss II playing his violin—Vienna's most photographed monument.
Vienna's first public park was designed by landscape painter Josef Selleny in the English landscape style. Its monuments honour a who's who of Viennese composers: Schubert, Bruckner, Lehár, and Stolz join Strauss.
