Overview
Syntagma (Constitution) Square is the central square of modern Athens, dominated by the Hellenic Parliament building and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, guarded day and night by the elite Evzones presidential guard.

History
The square was named for the constitution that King Otto was forced to grant in 1843. It has been the site of major political events including the resistance against the 1967 junta.

- Metro Station: The Syntagma Metro station has a free museum of archaeological finds discovered during construction.
