LX Factory

Overview

LX Factory is a creative compound in a former 19th-century textile factory in Alcântara, under the 25 de Abril Bridge. Its industrial buildings house indie boutiques, design studios, bookshops, galleries, and street-food counters.

History

The Companhia de Fiação e Tecidos Lisbonense operated here from 1846 until the late 20th century. In 2008, the abandoned factory was reimagined as a creative hub — Lisbon's answer to Berlin's Kreuzberg or London's Shoreditch.
