Overview

The National Art Center, Tokyo (NACT) is Japan's largest exhibition space — a stunning undulating glass building designed by Kisho Kurokawa in the Roppongi art triangle. Uniquely, it has no permanent collection, instead hosting a rotating program of major exhibitions and art society shows.

Highlights

• The Architecture: The facade's enormous wave-like glass curtain wall is one of Tokyo's most photogenic buildings, best appreciated from the inside looking out.
• Inverted Cone Café: Two inverted concrete cones rise from the lobby floor — one houses a café, the other a restaurant — creating a surreal interior landscape.
• Roppongi Art Triangle: Together with the Mori Art Museum and Suntory Museum of Art, it forms a walkable triangle of world-class art institutions.
