Frederik's Church (Marble Church)

Frederik's Church, popularly known as the Marble Church, is an imposing Evangelical Lutheran church positioned perfectly on axis with Amalienborg Palace. Its spectacular copper green dome dominates the skyline of the Frederiksstaden district.

History

Designed by architect Nicolai Eigtved in 1740, construction was plagued by financial ruin and the death of the architect. It stood as an unfinished ruin for nearly 150 years before finally being completed in 1894 with crucial funding from a wealthy industrialist.

• Dome Views: You can climb to the top of the dome for fantastic views, but only on designated guided tours (usually weekends).
• Access: Entry to the main church level is free.
