Museums in Cape Town

The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa. This pentagonal bastioned fort, completed in 1679, was the centre of civilian, political, and military life at the Cape for over 150 years.

The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) is the largest museum of contemporary African art in the world. Housed in a spectacularly converted 1920s grain silo at the V&A Waterfront, the building itself is an architectural masterpiece designed by Thomas Heatherwick.
