Museums in Amalfi

The Museo della Carta is a working medieval paper mill turned museum, set in the Valle dei Mulini gorge above Amalfi. It preserves the machinery and techniques of Amalfi's famed handmade paper tradition, dating to the 12th century.

The Museo Civico is a small municipal museum in the medieval Town Hall overlooking Piazza del Duomo. Its prized exhibit is a copy of the Tavole Amalfitane, the maritime code that governed Mediterranean trade.

The Arsenale della Repubblica is one of the last surviving medieval shipyards in southern Italy, a vaulted stone hall on the Amalfi waterfront where war galleys were once built.
