Viewpoints in Reykjavík

The observation deck atop Hallgrímskirkja's 74.5-metre tower offers the best 360° panorama of Reykjavík, with views stretching from the old harbour and Esja mountain to the colourful tin rooftops of the city below.

The outdoor observation deck at Perlan sits atop Öskjuhlíð hill, offering free panoramic views across Reykjavík, the harbour, Mount Esja, and the surrounding lava fields. Unlike the museum inside, access to the deck is complimentary.

The walk out to Grótta lighthouse on the tip of the Seltjarnarnes peninsula is one of Reykjavík's most rewarding short hikes, offering sweeping views across Faxaflói Bay to mountaintops on clear days and some of the city's best sunset vistas.
