The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) is one of Australia's leading contemporary art spaces, housed in a striking rusted-steel building in Southbank. It specialises in exhibitions by leading Australian and international contemporary artists.

The Centre for Contemporary Photography is a non-profit gallery on Johnston Street in Fitzroy dedicated entirely to lens-based art. Its two white-cube spaces host around twelve exhibitions per year, spanning documentary, fashion, conceptual and experimental photography.

NGV International houses the National Gallery of Victoria's international art collection, spanning antiquity to contemporary. The brutalist building on St Kilda Road is an architectural icon by Sir Roy Grounds.

The TarraWarra Museum of Art occupies a striking earth-toned building by Sean Godsell Architects, set among Yarra Valley vineyards. The permanent collection focuses on post-war and contemporary Australian art, including works by Fred Williams, Howard Arkley and Ricky Swallow.
